Question: What does FAQ mean?
Answer: FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. This is an area of the website that will keep growing. Email us a question and it will have a good chance of being answered here.
Question: Where can I buy Dave Rowe and Dave Rowe Trio CDs?
Answer: Our CDs are available directly from our record company, Outer Green Records, by calling toll-free 888-647-6783. You also may order online from CD Baby and have the choice of real CDs or DRM-free downloads. Many of our CDs are also available for download from Apple iTunes. Search for Dave Rowe (note: there is more than one Dave Rowe with CDs available from iTunes, so choose carefully).
Question: I haven't seen you guys in a while. When are you coming to my hometown?
Answer: As soon as we are able to. We love to play and we love to travel, but every trip requires certain economic benchmarks to be hit before we can do it, both for us and for those who hire us. Because of that, it is important that when we come to your town, you show up and show your support and bring as many friends as you can! If there is a folk-friendly radio show or radio station in your area, call them up and request our music (if they don't have it, direct them to our Radio Page). Help us create that demand that will make our trip success. Also, be sure and tell us about any venues you would like to hear us play, and make a request at the venue to have us. You'd be surprised at how much you can help us spread the word. Actually, we can't do it without you!
Question: Do you guys ever play parties, weddings, etc.?
Answer: Definitely! We love to party. Call our representative, McShane Glover, at 410-268-8232 and she will be thrilled to arrange it for you.
Question: What's the deal with those odd-looking instruments anyway?
Answer: Our instruments are all designed by our good friend, Ned Steinberger, who lives here in Maine. The guitar and the bass are made by Steinberger Sound, which is a subsidiary of Gibson guitars. Ned sold Steinberger Sound to Gibson in the late 1980s, but still continues to create new revolutionary designs for them. Currently, Ned produces bowed electric instruments—like Ed's NS violin/fiddle—with his new company, NS Design. Now as for why....Ned's designs all have one major factor in common—ergonomics. That means they are comfortable to wear and play and don't send us to our respective chiropractors nearly as often as our old instruments used to. And they sound GREAT!
Question: If I sign up for your email list, am I going to start getting SPAM?
Answer: No. We do not provide our email list to anyone else and we do not send out frequent emails. We try to send a monthly newsletter and we also send out very occasional special notices for shows and appearances, but that's it. We will never send you more than 20 total emails in a single year. If you consider 20 emails over the course of 52 weeks to be SPAM, then you best not sign up. If 20 emails in a year doesn't bother you, we'd love to have you sign up.
Question: I never check my email/don't have email. Do you send out a paper newsletter?
Answer: Email is FREE! Paper costs money and stamps cost even more. While we would love to do a paper newsletter version, there is no way we can even approach the idea. And that doesn't even begin to address the ecological concerns with sending a hard-copy newsletter like the fossil fuel that needs to be burned to harvest the trees and turn it into paper, or the diesel that the trucks that deliver the mail burn. OK, so we're a bunch of tree huggers (no, actually we're cheap, but you have to admit that ecological excuse is a good one!).
Question: You guys are great. What can I do to help you along and help get the word out about you?
Answer: Thanks! We'd love your help. We want to get our music out there as much as possible and play as many gigs as our wives can stand. Your help is appreciated. What you can do is: spread the word, give our CDs as gifts to friends, get on our email list and forward our monthly newsletter to your friends, request our music from your favorite folk DJ, contact your favorite music venues and request us, come to our shows when we are in your town and bring ALL your friends, charter a bus and bring all your friends to all of our shows everywhere (we can dream, can't we?).
